Make sure you have Tuesday 16th June at 12.30pm (BST) in your diaries #Eventprofs.
We’re delighted to announce that we’ll be joined by the Trailblazers team for this months #ewlhour and Twitter Q&A.
They’ll be answering questions on their new scheme, approved by the Minister of Skills back in March, and plans to create an innovative new apprenticeship standard providing an alternative route for young people to enter the industry.
Mark Riches, MD of First Protocol, who is behind the initiative, along with events consultant Sarah Wright had this to say in C&IT magazine last month “We are planning to have the apprenticeship standard set up, approved by government and ready to take on apprentices by the end of the year, dependent of course on industry agreement and support to achieve this”.
We’ll be asking about the launch event being hosted by London & Partners on the 9th June with 35-40 key industry figures, as well as plans for an Industry Advisory Board, to govern the creation of the standard; and a Standard Development Board, to set the core standards. You can read more about the launch event in C&IT.
The scheme will also enable existing employees or new recruits to develop more of the skills that the advisory boards identify as being essential in establishing a solid career in events, from creative to project management, customer service to budget management through to regulation and best practice.
We’ll also be asking what this means for the industry and how people can get involved and support the initiative.
If you joined us last month then you’ll know the drill, grab yourself a Pret and use the hashtag #ewlhour to join the conversation.
Due to feedback from our first #ewlhour it’s just for half an hour this month, 12.30pm to 1.00pm (BST).
If anyone has a question they would like to ask in advance please do email us at firstname.lastname@example.org, otherwise we look forward to e-seeing you and reading your thoughts and questions on the day!
